Glenney, Robert “Wayne” passed peacefully at home in his sleep Tuesday Jan 31st at the age of 77. Known as Wayne, coach, dad, Grandpa, Sgt., lefty etc. He had fought throat cancer and was diagnosed with Huntington Disease 10 years ago.
Wayne, beloved husband of June for 53 years. Loving father to Rob and Jeff and loving Grandpa to Drew and Brody. Lovingly remembered by his brother Harold and his wife Norma, sister-in-law Sandra Coffey and Brother-in-law Richard and Thelma. Predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Hazel (Dunnville, ON), brother Dwight, sisters Donna Hoover (Freddie +), Elsie Sheldrake, Pat Howley (Glen +), and Betty Pudwill (Glen +, Ed +). He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and their families.
After 35 years in the RCMP, Wayne had retired from his final posting in Warman in 2001. Grandparenting and the acreage kept him busy after retirement filling time with yard work, horses, woodworking, and floating in the pool. He enjoyed watching the Leafs and the Bluejays but had turned into a Westerner being a Saskatchewan Rough Rider fan. He made friends easily and enjoyed becoming a part of the communities he was stationed at in Gravelbourg, Tisdale, Maple Creek, Kelvington, Assiniboia, and Warman. We’ll miss his stories from the Musical Ride, Hockey, Ball, Curling, coaching, farming, and police work.
A Celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on June 1st, 2024, 12:00 p.m., at Cherished Memories Funeral Home, 591 Centennial Drive North, Martensville, SK. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Huntington Society of Canada can be made (www.huntingtonsociety.ca)
