Robert Gordon

November 18, 1945 — January 20, 2023

It is with profound sadness the family announce the peaceful passing of Brian Gordon on Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. Brian was born in Birch Hills, SK., on November 18, 1945, to the parents of Blair and Marguerite Gordon.

Brian was raised on a mixed farm, north of Birch Hills, and was the eldest of 6 children. He shared many fond memories of his childhood such as having pets, caring for animals, being actively involved as a 4H member, learning to drive at an early age and the fun of making his own entertainment.

Brian attended the one room school in the New England district, graduated from Birch Hills School, and went on to study Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan.

In his earlier years, Brian was a chartered member of the Birch Hills and District Kinsmen Club, where he felt it was important to volunteer time for the betterment of the community.

Brian spent time in civil construction, working on projects throughout Saskatchewan, but his strong sentiment for agriculture, drew him back to the family homestead to grain farm. In 1976, the farm transitioned to him and his brothers, becoming the third generation to farm the land. Brian managed Sundowner Farms and was a silent partner in the family agriculture equipment dealership.

On July 12, 1980, Brian and Cathy were married in Melfort. With a strong desire to provide a rural lifestyle, Brian helped to build a house on the home quarter, where together they raised their family.

Brian was a founding member of the Birch Hills snowmobile club and spent countless hours working at the warm shacks and fundraising to provide facilities for not only his family, but all families and friends to enjoy year-round. Throughout his life he enjoyed downhill skiing, curling, quadding, snowmobiling, camping, traveling, and golfing. Many cherished memories were made traveling with his family. He was keen to demonstrate his knowledge of niche topics and was always seeking opportunities to continue learning. For the past 18 winters, Brian always looked forward to traveling and enjoying time at various warm destinations around the world.

Although he had a strong work ethic, and was dedicated to farming, he always made time to support and be involved with his family’s activities and interests.

Brian will forever be remembered for his positive attitude and optimist outlook on life. His patient, kind, and caring personality made him a loving husband, father, grandfather, and true friend.

Brian will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Cathy, his 4 children David (Ashley) Ty; Sheldon (Lori) Mason; Kyle (Tara) Adrianna, Ellis; Chantel (Brendan) Maddox.

Brian is predeceased by his parents Blair and Marguerite Gordon, parents-in-law James and Johanna Wyne, brother Shawn Gordon and grandson Hudson Gordon.

Respecting Brian’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy, may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society, In Brian’s memory.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Dale Ardell and the 4th Floor staff at St. Paul’s Hospital, for their support and exceptional care.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Gordon.
