Ron was born in Montreal, Quebec, where he lived until he was 13 years old, at which time his family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ron did his electrical apprenticeship in Winnipeg and then moved to Saskatoon to begin his career as an electrician, which lasted 63 years. Ron loved being an electrician and would never turn down a call. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sportsman. He particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. Ron also played fastball, hockey and 5 pin bowling. After camping for many years at Delaronde Lake, Ron purchased an acreage near Big River where he enjoyed snowmobiling, quadding and golfing. Ron and Vera even went to Winnipeg by skidoo one year! Big River was his happy place. Most weekends and holidays were spent enjoying the peace and serenity at the acreage and, of course, renovating the house. In 2010 Ron and Vera went to Phoenix, Arizona and after that became snowbirds. They spent 10 years enjoying the balmy weather and super golf courses in San Tan Valley before Covid hit. In 2023 Ron spent his last winter in Apache Junction and enjoyed every minute. Ron loved to sing and play guitar and spent many evenings serenading his family. He was the life of the party and loved to tell jokes. Boy could he tell a joke. Ron was proud that he was able to celebrate 50 years of sobriety. Ron leaves to mourn Vera, his loving wife and faithful companion of 36 years, his brother Bernie Connolly and sister-in-law Jill Connolly. He also leaves his precious children Glenda (Wayne), Garnet (Wendy), Gary (Raelynn), Nichole (Chad) and Michelle (Jess), grandchildren Chris (Rosetta), Jordan, Anna (Steve), Tyler (Danielle), Sydney, Connor, Jackson (Faith) and Aiden, as well as 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents Henry and Lily Connolly, siblings Pat and Leonard, brother-in-law Alex and sister-in-law Mary. Special thanks to the staff in Emergency, on the 7th floor, and especially Palliative Care, at St. Paul’s Hospital for the care and attention given to Ron. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society.
