It is with heartfelt sadness, that we announce Rueben Miller who was born April 4, 1951, to John & Gertrude (Remple) Miller, passed away August 23, 2023, at his residence in Saskatoon, after a lengthy struggle with COPD.

After his schooling in Neuhorst and Osler, his first job to earn some money was shovelling grain for farmers in the area. But he soon tired of that, did some piloting in the USA for Titan Transport and then was able to learn the trade of drywalling, from the professionals in Neuhorst. He worked very hard at that for many years, until the grain dust and wood fibres led him to being diagnosed with COPD in 2015. Masks were not required to be worn in those days.

During those years of being more confined at home, he took up an interest in politics, and was more than willing to share his opinion, since social media became his good friend. But through it all, he rededicated his life to the Lord, and together we spent hours discussing Bible passages.

One wish that Rueben had, was the dream to be able to drive again. He loved to be on the open road, miles ahead of him, sights to see and people to meet.

Recently he spent more time sleeping, and I missed our visits. Talking became very difficult for him.

He leaves to mourn his sister Elsie, numerous nieces and a nephew, Uncle to Lorna, Gord, Rob, Barb and Darcy;  along with two special friends, Joe Lorenzi and Susie Teichroeb, who were always there for him, with many trips to the emergency. Rueben was predeceased by his parents, his brother Donald, and brother-in-law Cornie Wolfe.

Many thanks to the Palliative Home Care Staff, who were so kind and helpful through his months of anxiety, medication changes and helping him how to use the oxygen efficiently. His breathing is 100% now!!

Interment of urn will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, 2:30 p.m., at the Hague Cemetery, Hague, SK. A Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 p.m., at Cherished Memories Funeral Home, 591 Centennial Drive North, Martensville, SK.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Rueben Miller.
