Samantha Maud Hansen

With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Samantha Maud Hansen on January 12th, 2022 at the age of 47 years.

Samantha was born October 24, 1974, in Hobro, Denmark. She moved to Hague, Saskatchewan in 1980 with her family at the age of 6.  She started school at Hague Elementary.  After high school she went to cosmetology school and graduated as an excellent hairstylist.  She enjoyed it for many years and was always improving.  Starting in the 2000’s, mental health issues knocked her career goals sideways. She was later diagnosed with schizophrenia, anxiety and depression.

Around 2010 she reconnected with childhood friend Cory Wiebe, and they went trucking for a few years, seeing North America with their dogs.  Sam and Cory supported each other’s journey in the last 10 years and contributed to their community.

She lacked the ability to have a “paid” job in the later years, but she worked so hard every day to manage and grow.  Sam was able to continue her creativity and was a generous and talented artist.  Many friends and family have artwork and poems to enrich their lives, and now to remember her by.

Sam is predeceased by her parents, Carsten and Vera Hansen, and her nephew Philip Felbauer. She is survived by her siblings, Hanne Hansen (Oscar Bonilla), Anders Hansen, Hans Hansen; nieces and nephews, Oscarin, Linda, Edward, Phoenix and Gloria. She also leaves behind many close friends.

Sam had the benefit of counsellors, support groups, and various supports in the community.  Any donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is encouraged.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 22nd, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at the Martens Warman Chapel, 402 Central Street West, Warman, SK. Those unable to attend are invited to join online at https://youtu.be/F97YcX5Mw7U
