Saskatchewan artist Shirley Taylor (nee Ptolemy) passed peacefully after a short illness on October 14 at the Hospice of Glengarda in Saskatoon. She was born in Dinsmore, SK, on April 21, 1936, to Jesse and Hilda Ptolemy who passed many years previous. Shirley was truly an exceptional person – creative, compassionate, and very clever. She was an incredible multi-media artist and always strived to see the good in others. She will be greatly missed by her three daughters: Beverly Robertson (Jeff); Karen Taylor-Binnie (Craig); and Noreen Taylor (Steve). She is also survived by her granddaughters Kate Robertson and Meghan Binnie, along with her great grandson Cole Robertson, and sisters-in-law Illa Knudsen and Erika Taylor. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband Neil Taylor, her son Chester Taylor, and her grandson Adam Robertson. At the age of 87, she had sadly outlived many friends and relatives including three sisters: Reta Mick; Bea Clarke; and Bella Burnett. We are having a joint funeral service for Shirley and Neil, as he did not have a service two years ago due to COVID. The Memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Cherished Memories Funeral Services, 591 Centennial Dr. N. Martensville, SK. Light refreshments will follow. The burial and interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation. Cherished Memories Funeral Services is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with Shirley’s care.
