Susan Bueckert

July 15, 1925 — March 27, 2023

With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Susan Bueckert, on March 27th, 2023, at the age of 97 years.

Susan Bueckert was born July 15, 1925, to Johan B & Katherina Friesen of Blumenheim, SK. She was the youngest of nine surviving children. Her next older 3 siblings passed away as children, so growing up was lonely.

Her favourite job was at St. Paul’s Hospital working both in housekeeping and as a nurses’ assistant. She lived at the nurses’ residence during the week, then took the train home to Osler for the weekends to help her aging parents

Mom was baptised in 1946 and became part of the Osler Mennonite Church.  She had a strong faith and was a prayer warrior.

At the age of 31 she married John Bueckert of Schoenwiese, SK. They operated a small mixed farm, moving the yard site across the quarter to locate along the main road in 1967.  There they raised 5 children and retired. They both lived the rest of their lives on the farm.

She spent a month in hospital Jan/Feb 2021 and was diagnosed with heart failure.  Although we were told she would not walk out of there, she did, but needed care. At this time, son Dennis and daughter Lynda offered to take care of her at home on the farm. What was expected to be a short-term arrangement continued for 2 years, till her passing.

She was predeceased by husband John Bueckert, daughter Karen Dyck, and all of her brothers and sisters and their spouses.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren:  Ray (Loretta) – Andrea (Keewatin), Derek (Liz), Corinne, Regan (Sarah); Brian (Leona); (son-in-law) George Dyck – Alanna (David), Austin; Dennis; Lynda (Tim) Klassen – Tyrel (Amy), Shaelyn (Chris); and 10 great grandchildren.

A Viewing will be held on Saturday, April 1st, 2023, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., at the Osler Mennonite Church, 212 2ndAve., Osler, SK. With the Funeral Service to commence, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Osler Cemetery.

Susan’s service will be available online via livestream  https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/71915.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care of Susan Bueckert.
