Thomas Roy

June 8, 1943 — September 25, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather, Thomas Roy on September 25, 2021, at the age of 78.

Tom managed his life experiences with strong-will and integrity. On his final day, Tom crossed paths with several friends and family, leaving each one with that impressionable smile of his. Tom was born in Meadow Lake to Alice and Willie Roy. He was known as Stickle in his community of Green Lake, and by the younger generations, as Poppa Tom.

Over the years, Tom’s memory stayed sharp, recalling stories about his life with many loved ones. He would share his childhood memories, his employment over the years that lead him to the Ironworkers Union and retiring after 33 years, his travels across North America, joining the Canadian Army, and his love of trapping, fishing, spending time at his cabin, and his hobbies of wine making and restoring vehicles.

Tom leaves to mourn his children: Gail, Lana (Dennis), Laura, Irene (Kent), Sonia (Wendell), Terence (Janis), Tim (Shawnee), Christopher, and their children and grandchildren; his siblings: Rose Potts, Joanne (Brian) RedIron, Dominick (Leonna) Durocher, Victor Morin, and their children and grandchildren; his stepchildren: Donald, Debra, Farrell, Sandra, Marlene, Darrell, and their children and grandchildren. Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Mary, mother Alice Roy, and father Willie Roy, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends.

As to Tom’s request, to celebrate his life, a wake was held on September 29-30, 2021, with the funeral service on October 1, 2021, cremation to follow. Tom’s final resting place will be with his wife, Mary, at the Green Lake Community Cemetery. The final interment will be held at a later date.

The children of Tom would like to express their sincerest thank you to all family, friends, and communities that supported them in their time of need. He will be forever loved, dearly missed by many; always in our hearts and prayers.

Arrangements entrusted to Martens Warman Funeral Home (306) 934-4888.
