It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Wilf Michayluk, who peacefully left us at the Hospice at Glengarda on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 79, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his children Todd (Adeline) and their children Ethan (Marlee) & Nevia; and Sheri (Lyle) and son Zack. He was predeceased by his parents Steve & Nettie Michayluk.
Born in Prince Albert on March 8, 1945, Wilf spent his childhood on the family farm in the St. Julien District. In 1959, the family moved to Saskatoon, where Wilf attended Bedford Road Collegiate. After high school, Wilf held various jobs, including delivery work for Eaton’s Department Store and selling Hartford Insurance. He later founded his own monument company, Family Memorials, and ran it for many years before his passion for vehicles led him to own Yellowhead Auctions. He continued working in automotive sales until his retirement.
Wilf was a man full of life, with a vibrant personality that drew people to him. He enjoyed an active social life, making friends wherever he went. His weekends were often filled with activities such as playing Kaiser, enjoying a game of pool, and going to dances. In the summer, Wilf could often be found golfing, soaking up the sun, or spending time with friends and family at various lakes. He was always quick to tell a joke and loved making people laugh.
Above all, Wilf cherished his family. He was devoted to them and would do anything for his loved ones. He was always just a phone call away and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 27, 2024 at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral (919-20th St W, Saskatoon).
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mr. Michayluk's final arrangements.
